Stem cells grown on amniotic substrate membranes are cultured for use.
The amniotic membrane has a collagen structure that acts as an appropriate scaffold for various cell cultures. Growth factors and culture conditions are also taken into consideration when cell sheets suitable for transplantation are manufactured.
By transplanting thelium with the placenta, ArBlast cell sheets can be used in patients with inflammation for whom transplantation had been considered impossible. ArBlast sheets can also prevent angioinvasion, which helps improve vision.
A manufacturing method for corneal sheets has been researched and a clinical application established (at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine). ArBlast is engaged in developing practical uses for this material.
